Default CAn't get battery cover off

I am replacing my battery for the first time and I'm unable to remove the battery cover. There are 2 loops on the side of the cover holding 2 wires going to the positive terminal that seem to be holding it down. Should I just be able to pull the cover off is there a way to disconnect the loops holding the wires?

I just replaced by battery, 2006 IS250. I used a short pry bar ( a long flat blade screwdriver might work too). It took some force, but the plastic clip (female end) did detach from the metal clip (male end) which is attached to the plastic battery cover. Nothing broke in the process. You may not be able to use this plastic cover if your new battery is not the same height as the original Lexus battery.
