Default Navigation update 9.1

I was a dumbass and bought my car in June. I should have waited for the 2010 with the hard drive based navigation.
Well, I just got the postcard in the mail that says the new navigation update is now available. Has anyone updated their factory navigation to the 9.1 version?
How much did they charge for labor?

You can do it yourself, there are instructions in the manual to do it, you just need to get the DVD disk from Sewell or your dealership, Sewell probably being the cheaper place to get it at.

Never go to your local dealership for install. They will charge you an arm and a leg.

Like stonefan said, you can do the install yourself. I don't have 9.1 either. I'm like 2 versions behind. What I have now suits me fine for my daily driving.

You can't, will need to have the whole nav system swapped with the new system with XM traffic updates

Plus with the Garmin you get all the features the 06-09 nav is missing, and it's only $99 for lifetime map updates.

Hmm, makes me want to buy a Garmin and just use my stock Nav screen for a fancy A/C control display.

Than just get a Garmin and forgo the OEM aspect of a fully integrated unit. Can't understand why people keep complaining about the Lexus Nav system. 99% of the people don't need a disc upgrade, things don't change that much over a couple of years. If you can't afford a $200 upgrade on a $35-$40k purchase you are in over your head.

You must live in a fairly rural area. I live in an area where there is new developments and new roads being built every year. My current house isn't even on the map yet.

I did. In fact I special ordered to specifically to avoid paying $2500 for a nav system inferior to my $250 Garmin. Decisions like that is how I could pay cash for the 35-40k purchase when I bought it

Amazingly, my dash still not only controls the same non-nav stuff the nav one does, it usually does it faster since I don't have to change screens to change radio presets for example.

Everytime I get a nav loaner I feel like it's got the special-ed controls :P (push the picture of the thingy you want!)

And as noted, unless you live way out in the styx, quite a lot changes in a couple of years
