Default Rear GFX lip gaps... BEWARE OF CARTECH AUTOBODY in TORONTO

Hi all,

I just had my GFX rear installed on my 06 IS350. I noticed gaps around the rear sides (about half a cm). I talked to the guy and he said he tried everything to get the gap small. He said that this could be because since the car aged, so has the plastic so the fitment might not be perfect.

Can anyone chime in on this? Do you think I can buy some double sided tape and put it in the gap to try and close it? What's the recommended double sided tape?

thanks!

Who installed it? Did they cut the exhaust openings in your bumper? You may need to do this in order to fit properly.

BTW, who is "the guy"?

I have the same gap especially on the curve corner. I think it's normal, more tapes would help but I don't even notice it that much or care about it anymore.

I installed mine myself following the instructions, and it's perfect no gaps around, so double check with the install.

if the guy installs the lip ever so slightly off, then you will get the gap. I would uninstall and reinstall again. I bet that will fix your problem.

Bingo!..
You have to reinstall the kit. It was not properly installed... Tell him to follow exactly how the instruction shows and before tightening the bolts, it must be perfectly aligned. The kit does not have any gap whatsoever.. I had to reinstall mine twice to get it perfect And lol noway the plastic can age like that and give that big of a gap difference....

i had my GFX rear kit put on just this year and my car is a 06 no gaps at all. If adding more tape works for you go for it but just remember tape can only hold on so long.

I agree..

You may need to retape it anyways if you're taking the lip off
