this post cracked me up , he thinks the cf is primer... so HIN, a national car show, lets primered cars pass selection? MUCH LESS would anyone take a primer car to 'show'???

Sort of. Seen it a few times. Although it looks the same to most, seen painted black hood and truck apose to actual primer. When you reach 50 there's little that you haven't experienced/seen. People did this even before CF. Was in at a car show in Japan back in 83 where back hoods and trucks was a FAD for the younger moders. And Although I'd seen it in the States, it wasn't done to such a large extent.

In fact there is a pristine red Civic down the street from me with a black paint hood that the owner uses for shows. He has the trophies to prove it but he readily admits to being an auto-cross poser. Which I guess is his theme at shows. A Show-Car Auto-Crosser. Next time he pulls the car out I'll take a few pictures.

I know that the look outside of track and auto-cross has a fringe following that most other people don’t like but I respect anyone’s right to do that to their cars. Kind-of like walking around with spiked hair. It’s okay with me. But like most other people, I just shrug and shake my head cause I don't understand nor like the unfinished look on a street car. To me all of this is no different than other FADs I've seen over the years like wild color schemes, intercoolers mount to the Front Bumper, or exhaust pipes extending past the roof lines, extra headlights, Gundum body kit, setc, etc, etc, etc.

Though I would appreciate an explanation why the small minority find it appealing to do this to a car when you are not shedding weight for tracking or auto-crossing. I may be old but I still appreciate learning new tricks. Or just to be able to turn to a critic and say, “They do that because…………..”

Edit: By-the-way I have nothing against CF hoods and trunks. Please don't misunderstand. I had’em install on my MR2 Spyder to ”Shed Weight” alone with smaller and lighter weight wheels for track and auto-cross”….except it (CF Parts) was painted the same color as the rest of the car.

I also have a beautifully painted CF (except for seat, seat post, chain, gears and sprockets) racing Mountain bike that allows me to keep up and beat riders 30 years younger than myself.

NICE! I really like how you kept the black/cf and white look consistant throughout the whole car. The first time I saw a black roof was on a white G35 Coupe. It's nice to see it here and complimented by the cf hood and trunk. Then the lip and skirt treatment underneath... I wet my pants
