I am going to paint my emblems and am wondering once you get them off and paint how hard is it, and what is the best way to get all of the letters back on straight? Thanks in adv...
When I put my black pearl emblems on I put the two with the little pegs on first. Then taped the rest below and carefully just peeled them off and moved them up. Came out perfect. So for you I would make some sort of stencil before you pull them off and then use that to put them back on. (Use a ruler to measure the distance between the letters when you make your stencil, and graph paper). Hope that helps.
I used painter's tape to mark around the emblems before removing them. Not only did it serve as a template for when I went to reapply the emblems, but it also protected the paint when I removed the OE emblems.
i painted mine.. graphic grey metallic though (matches the grill).. it's pretty easy.. clean with alcohol.. primer.. couple of coats.. clearcoat.. 3M tape.. in terms of putting it back on.. usually when you take off your emblems, there will be some type of adhesive still on your trunk that gives it an outline of where your emblems should be..
Everyone's so sensitive and testy. I don't think the black pearl emblem are very noticeable other than when it's bright outside. I would prefer to have it painted than getting the black pearl.
