Default Does disabling the seat belt chime disable the passenger side airbag?

I noticed this while driving that my passenger airbag light doesn't go on now that I disabled the seatbelt alarm. Did this a few months ago, and just happened to notice. Does it actually disable like, or will it still work?

The only way to disable an airbag is to remove it from the car. If no one is sitting in the passenger's seat, the airbag ECU temporarily disables the airbag. This is also true if someone very light is sitting in the passenger's seat. It has nothing to do with disabling the chime.

Yup, sensor under the passenger seat tells the ECU whether to keep the passenger airbag on or off. Maybe this is to prevent replacement of the airbag if an accident occurs?

No, it's to prevent the airbag from killing children or small adults in the front seat. It's a high-tech bandaid for a fundamentally flawed technology. But I think I've posted enough about how I disagree with airbags as a mandatory safety device.

I won't discuss it again. Too much religion in it.

From the same company that locks out the nav while in motion?? That's a big NO.

Where did this image come from? I'm looking to find out if there is 1 sensor in the seat dedicated to occupancy and another sensor in the seat determining the weight of the occupant. Any ideas or more information from the document you pulled the image from?

Thanks!
