Default What wheels are popular for winter wheel/tire combo on a 350?

Winter drivers, what wheels are popular (brand or size) to use as a winter wheel? Something basic.

Does anyone use the stock 17" off of IS350? What about the 250? Are the stock 17" rims 250/350 easily found for sale? How much to people sell them for?

Why not just use the stock 18"s for winter and your aftermarket set for summer? Unless you want to be ballin in winter too...

Some good cheap 18"s would be a set of OEM G-Spiders or ISP's.

I figure the stock 18" is too wide of a wheel for effective use of a winter tire (narrower tires). I would want 17". Am I wrong on this?

Pick up a set of stock 17" wheels and put some good winter rubber on there and you'll be set. Stock 17" wheels are the same width all around so you can also get the same width tires all around and rotate them.

I always hear people talk about summer and winter wheels. Is this because of the tire thread or is it something to do with preserving the rim?

I'm planning to do that do but wondering what do most people do? It's 18" good enough for winter driving?

I have a 250, and I use my stock 17's for winters, no problems for me. I prefer 17 or smaller wheels for winters, just because if i hit a pothole, it won't be as bad as if i have something bigger with lower profile.

I agree completely.

The tire size on the 18" stock rims makes for an ineffective snow tire IMO. Smaller rim for more padding and narrower tread pattern for increased pressure/grip.

I'm wondering if the stock 17" rims and tire size for the IS250 would work for a set of snow tires. It would be nice to easily rotate tires front/back and side/side.

BTW, just purchased my 350 tonight, woohoo.

Just want to clarify that you are talking about the stock 17" IS250 rims and not the 17" ones of off a 350. What size tire do you run them?
