the 2is curse strikes again
so i went driving in the hills of la habra heights in CA.. yesterday and my damn mud flap broke off. after getting hit by a rock. wonder if any one else experience this and had a simple fix. i do still have the mud flap but looks like i need the clips...thanks in advance.
the mud flap that broke off.. is on the rear passenger side.to be honest im not sure if its a mud flap.

its not a 'mud flap', its supposed to be an undercarrage aerodynamic aid of some sort infront the wheels (mud flap infront the wheels haha good one)... no worries, dont go buying a new one either, dont need them...

Yes, I also had the mud flap clips break. The guy from the parts department gave me replacement clips for free (when I turned down his suggestion to let the service department fix it under warranty), but I can't imagine they cost more than a dollar or two. When you talked about the 2IS curse, I was afraid I was going to see some real sheet metal carnage.

similar thing happened to me a week ago. couldn't avoid some tire shrapnel on the freeway and the two clips holding the mudflap came off. i just went to my dealership and they fixed it up free of charge

i had clips break off and the passenger side plastic flap hanging, but i used some double-sided tape to tack it back up as a temporary fix. gonna get it taken care of when i go back for scheduled service.

I am not positive, but I believe this plastic "flap" is designed for aerodynamics and safety. The curved piece is supposed to direct water and airflow around and away from the tread of the tire (a high drag area). Most new cars have some form of this in front of each wheel.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, save for the idea of water collecting in the tread (from road spray) before it makes contact with a flooded road surface.
