Default The same reactions???

No one seems to understand why I would modify my IS (added intake, having exhaust and sways put on tomorrow; thinking about lowering). People just don't get it.

Do you get the same reactions??? I live in TN now, but I'm originally from CA. Maybe it just hasn't caught on yet (in TN).

Oh well.

I get it all the time. And honestly, I don't have an answer for it. I think it's a sickness that I have. I can't drive a car that is out of the box from factory. It has to be modified to my liking..I'll be this way 'til I'm about 85 and ready for croak, I can promise me that.

Some will never appreciate the art of modifying a car.

Some people are happy with the status quo. And sometimes, it ain't bad because the car essentially functions as what it is: transportation with perks.

For us enthusiasts, we understand that the time and effort and money used to modify our cars not only make the car better, but ultimately personalizes it as our own.

Where I live, nice cars are very common. So to me it's a treat to see tastefully modified cars that stand out to enthusiasts. I personally want my Lexus to be a bit different. To some degree it's a California thing, no surprise since the car capital of the world is LA.

Who do you mean by "no one"? Who cares, if it makes you happy? When someone can tell me why woman have 20 bags and 100 pairs of shoes then I will try and come up with an explanation for cars.

I dont understand why people who are broke or have loans on their cars throw a bunch of money into modding their vehicles instead of paying it off, but hey to each their own! Unfortunitly DEBT is the American way and look where its gotten us! now were all screwed.

Well, Hallelujah. At least I'm not the only one with the illness. When asked, "Huh? Why in the world do you want to do that to your car?!?", I want to respond with, "Why would I NOT want to do that to my car???"

PhilipMSPT: I love the "It's in the Bible. Really..." quote. That's pretty good!

I mod my car to stand out, I also can't stand a stock factory look. Yeah, girls tell me the same thing too...which is pretty true if you ask me.

LexusSC430: Good point. I've made similar points about people who ridicule spending $ on cars, but the same people have incredibly nice homes that they can barely afford. Yes, a home is an appreciating asset (used to be, anyway), but they still committed a lot of $.

Bodz123: Can't argue with that. You are correct.

Im not even modded that much (compared to some of you here), and I get it all the time. Its always ... "A car is just to get you from point A to point B" ... blah blah blah

+1 on this one, how about 15 pairs of jeans, all the same color, at least the shoes are different!

just put it this way.. if there's a new modification to your car.. it feels good right? so why not??? do anything that feels good.. life is short. dont even listen to what other people say.. they dont put food on your table anyway.

thats what you called "spice." imagine a world that everything is the same.. we wear the same clothes, same haircut, same style etc.... boring right? so just put that spice in your life.

we're so lucky we dont live in countries that dictates us what to do. so abuse that.
