I'm starting to think they are going to do something similar to BMW with their M Performance packages, in that they will have the unoffensive bland styling for the volume sellers (non F-sport) and then have a much more aggressively styled F-sport version as well.
Here's hoping anyways... You would have to pay me to drive what has been shown so far.
If nothing else, I guess it will help keep our resale value up.

I have a friend who reads and speaks Japanese translate some of it. It reads reads right to left and there is a part missing, so it begins awkwardly.
".... became a tapered rear end. but those wild ambitions will be inherited by the next model. it looks like this concept maintains the same old design, but its riding on the newest platform, and it now features the aforementioned 2.5L hybrid 4 also used in the new Crown as well as refined versions of the 2.5L and 3.5L V6s. its the base noel of the IS-F detailed earlier in this issue, so there should be no worries about the rigidity of the body or chassis. since its rival, the BMW 3 Series, features a wagon variant, this new model will add a sports wagon body style to the lineup. With the coupe and convertible there will be four styles total. it looks like the new wagon model will be dedicated to the hybrid technology, and it will serve to help Lexus's brand image. if the new IS isn't a a hit, then the entire Lexus brand won't be able to rise above [its competitors]. For that reason the new model..."
Top of the page says Feb. 2013 Debut
If that is what's to come, I'll be buying my currently leased IS at the end of the lease... or hopefully the IS-F won't change for a couple more years or something and then I'll get the IS-F
Seriously, what the hell?!!? that is ugly

Words cannot describe how much I hate what Lexus is doing with all these new front ends...oh how I utterly despise how the bumper just flares out at the bumper instead of just following the angled aggressive line...brings a tear to my eye...

"and/or a FLAT 6 engine" tho???
Rumors about Lexus working on a new generation IS sedan have been around for awhile, but this is the first time a mule of the next IS has been caught testing. The mule is still wearing a modified body of the current generation, but it sits on a new platform, a new drivetrain, and a new suspension.
This beginner mule was the first move towards keeping the new design language hidden from all of us camera-happy journalists, but it still can’t keep us from speculating a bit on the new model. The next IS will feature the same design language as the recently announced GS and LS. Under the hood, it has been rumored to feature a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder and/or a 3.6-liter flat-6 engine. The 2014 Lexus IS F will continue with a high-powered V-8 with an output of more than 400 HP. The IS-F will sprint from 0 to 60 mph sprint in about 4.5 seconds and will hit a top speed of about 170 mph.

Lexus Test Driver
Looks like the test mule has "IS300" emblems on the back.
