Default Another broken door lock

Last year the passenger door power lock stop working and i was replaced by my dealer under warranty.

Now the driver door one is giving me problems (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt), just one month after the warranty expired.

The dealer is telling me that they need to replace the entire lock assy (as they did with the passenger door last year), but now i have to pay for it.

They want to charge me $300 for the assy + labor adding up to $400.

The Assy part number is 69040-53110 "Lock Assy, Door OR B".

Had anyone have problems with the doorlocks before and fixed in any other way?

any other recommedations?

OMG, that brings back bad memories of my '04 RX330. For a while, I had to use my key to lock/unlock the driver side door because the locking mechanism went out (after the warranty expired, of course). But all of a sudden one day, it started working again, and still does (my folks have the RX now). Since you have to pay to get it fixed, try waiting a while to see if it fixes itself. The lock would not move out of position (manually, from inside the RX), but using the key via the lock it would work.

Sorta related... the driver's side lock on our '05 Tacoma swings happily back & forth with no "catch". Gotta use the key manually to lock/unlock. The truck is a bare-bones model so there's no remote anyway.

Just sorta grabbing at straws here, but if it controlled by the computer maybe disconnect the battery, give it a minute or 2 and then reconnect to see if it comes back to life.

I see the blind man said.

a good locksmith should be able to fix it with no problems. much cheaper too because they arent charging 90-100 per hour.
