i'll vote! i got a bit more than $2500 off MSRP before TTL. It's a stock base model with ceramic tint and wheel locks. It was an okay price, but here in Hawaii, there's only one dealership so it's hard to negotiate a lot.

my friend bought his Infiniti G37 last year; he added 550 to the "real" invoice price (that he found online not kbb/edmumds), and sent to 10-20 dealer to see if anyone would accept that price. He found couple of dealers accepting the prices.

I am thinking of doing so as well for Lexus IS250, but I am not able to find the "real" invoice price anywhere.

Well, hope that more people vote so that I can at least get some idea about what a good deal is. ;-)

Something for you to keep in mind is that CA has quite a few lexus dealers. You have the advantage of having the dealers undercutting each other for your business.

Hi guys,

I known that this is my first thread, but I've been reading and researching on this forum for a few weeks. Anyways, I just signed last night for my '09 250 AWD . Mine is technically speaking used (has 900 mi.). A lady bought at the end of February and then decided it was too small and she really wanted an ES. The dealer bought it back and sold her an ES (I'm sure she lost a pretty penny on her indecisiveness). I saw it and loved it. The dealer wanted 37K (fully loaded, navi, extras). I got him down to 33,500. What do you all think?

Anyways this was my first new (technically used) car purchase. I'm super excited.

But I am looking for a manual IS250 only.

The first dealer I went to today completely BSed. First, he said that Lexus stopped making manual, and I said that I did see it online. Then, he said that CA didn't make manual ones anymore. When did Lexus have a factory in CA? =.=|| He just didn't carry it and wanted me to get an automatic one, which he had plenty in stock.

Then, I called another dealer (20+ miles away). The dealer said that he sold its last manual and asked if I would like to order one now. He probably thought that I were Bill Gates who definitely could put down 35+K without even test-driving =.=||

Anyway, will try to call more dealers tomorrow and see if any has it in stock.

So today, I went to another dealer that had a manual IS250.

He was asking for 37.8K OTD (including TTL; sales tax here is 9.25%) with premium packages, 18" wheel (the cheapest one), nav, rear spoiler, and rear applique.

I still wondered how u guys managed to get 5K off the MSRP. The 37.8K OTD is about 3.8K off MSRP.

I got my special order for around $3500 off MSRP($1K over invoice) before TTL. In general it is easier to get a better deal on a car that is already sitting on a dealers lot. Now you didn't say if you are willing to special order and wait 3-5 months to get it or you are just going to take whats out there in inventory. Just so you know I waited 5 months for my car but it usually takes 3-4 months. I special ordered because of the color/option combination I wanted did not exist in my region.

If you are going to buy from just dealer inventory in the area. You have to determine how flexible you are in color/options available because each dealership has maybe 1-2 manuals if they have any. So supply is limited and the dealership will use that to their advantage.

The people on this forum who say they got the most off MSRP usually bought something that is a little more common so they could get dealers to compete against each other. My advice would be if you find the exact car you are looking for you should just work the best deal you can and take it. With that said, I got $1000 over invoice when I special ordered back in Sept 08. Given the economy today, I would think you can do at least that or better. Seeing that you had some dealership saying 3.8k off MSRP, that looks to be around $1000 over invoice.

Yes, it is true that it is easier to get a better deal on a car that is already sitting on a dealer's lot. At the same time, it is hard to get a deal when there are not too many dealers offering the car. I have called 5 dealers, and the dealer that I went yesterday is the only one that had a manual 2009 IS250.

Thanks for your advice. Let me think about it more...maybe I will turn to BMW135/328/335 or wait till 2010 ones come out. sigh.

Just found another dealer (pretty far from my place - 40miles) carrying a manual IS250.
The internet manager said that he couldn't do internet pricing because it is a rare car =.=||
Anyway, will update you guys if I get the quote.
