has anyone installed a laser jammer/shifter in their IS?
*** 5/2/09 - SINCE I COULD NOT FIND ANY INSTALL PHOTOS ON AN IS, I'VE UPDATED THIS POST WITH PHOTOS OF MY OWN INSTALL AT THE END OF THIS THREAD***
------------------
new here and my second mod is going to be a laser shifter. i just bought the unit for my is250 awd, but noticed there isn't really a good place to mount the 2 front transceivers.
behind the main grill there is only thin piece of foam to screw into before you hit the steel bumper (RED), while the lower grill is too thin (the width) so the modules will pop out past the bumper (BLUE)
any photos out there or suggestions?

this is what i'm talking about. behind the main grill (red area) is this blackish colored foam which is approx 1/4" thick before you hit the steel bumper,
while the second photo (lower grill - blue location) seems more discrete, but there isn't really anywhere to mount besides trying to mount it onto the thin edge of the bumper.
need some help (

yea, i'm thinking the "red" area too and cutting the grill to allow the sensors to have full exposure. the problem is there is nothing really to screw the brackets into. (i.e. there is only a little bit of black foam on top of the solid steel bumper). i'm going to go to lowes today to see if i can jimmy rig this with some sort of other bracket.
i'm just surprised that there isn't a DYI on this yet or photos from other installs. i'm originally from the AUDIWORLD Forum (A4) and just switch over to the IS and am loving this beast!
hopefully someone out there will post their picts as jammers seem to be pretty popular on other cars.
thanks eveyone!

also, when you say "mounted behind the grille" - does this mean you screwed the brackets under the bumper or did you screw the backets into the bottom belly pan? (i.e. bracket on top of module then screw into the bumper or is the brakcet under the module and screwed into the belly pan?)
if you look at the 3rd photo i posted, there isn't really anything to screw the barckets into before steel bumper...

Is it illegal to have laser jammer in California? I drive 60-100 miles per day and I have a 9500i but it just doesn't cut it in California since the poilce here use laser.

i'm in Ohio where it is legal. ALL of my tickets in the past have been with laser on the highway as only the local cops drive around with radar on.
come this july i will have zero tickets and bought the escort zr3 shifter as a precaution and because of the newly discounted price. they did come out with a newer version but the only benefit is that it jams "stealth mode," which no one around here uses yet.
iskcon answered my question on the other thread and it seems all my issues are because the LEX does not have much of a bumper overhang and that the escort laser heads are larger than the LI's that he installed.
this install is going to be fun...

Since you have the 9500i, Escort has their own laser shifters (ZR3 - the older version; ZR4 - newer version) which can be connected to your 9500i. But they honestly aren't too effective so better to go with another one. IMO, the best ones are Laser Interceptor, Laser Pro Park, and Antilaser G8.

saw it. it's the only photo/video of an IS with a jammer installed. problem is they just screwed the zr4 laser head and blinders into the bumper since there is nowhere really you can mount them on this car.
as iskcon stated, the LI's are the best but cost approx 3x more. go for the LI's if you can and you won't be going through what i am!
