Default Are you suppose to torque wheel locks?

Are you suppose to torque wheel locks to 76 ft. lbs?

My Rays Conical Lugnuts (Afternmarket) come with a 7 sided wheel lock. Should this be torqued to spec?

I torque mine a little less. I am afraid I might strip them if it's too tight.

Yes. It's a lug nut just like all the others, and should be torqued to spec. That's why the torque specs are 76 lb/ft. of torque, so you don't damage the studs.

Good advice for the OEM lug nuts (McGuard) they won't take much more than about 90 lbs. Gotta be careful with them. Not too sure about the Rays Conical, but, to the OP, yes, they should be torqued to spec.

Also, most locking lug nut manufacturers recommend that when tightening in the normal star pattern that the locking nut be tightened last, and that it be the first nut loosened. Less chance of damage to the nut/key.
