sweet jesus. i don't know what I want more: coilovers or these lol

ellY, Mahcah, Tchan1: I am mad jealous of you guys

I want sc430 setups pronto!

I've always felt the stock HID output was lame.

after I get coilovers, it's either these upgrades or an exhaust @_@

Stock SC430 lens are frosted, meaning they somewhat diffuse the beam and cutoff. The reason for this being that the contrast between a bright razor sharp cutoff and a very dark area just above is sore on the eyes. However, this severely limits the color and sharpness of the cutoff, as well as appear to decrease the intensity

BMW E30 lens are very clear, and fit the SC430 perfectly. With proper spacing of the lens from the shield, a brilliant blue and purple band results (referred to commonly as color-modding a projector).

Here's a picture of two cereal box cardboard spacers that I used to produce this band at home. I also have pictures of me testing just the stock lens with various spacing, and I can upload those photos too if you want.

I also tried clear TSX lens. However, even though TSX and SC430 are both 2.5" projectors, the tsx lens is noticeably smaller, and getting it to sit in the sc430 projector acceptably is quite difficult. This results in a skewed focal point, ruining the output and producing a funky cutoff.

Hope this helps

nice to see so much detail and calculation go into this mod. It looks great. I plan on doing the Q45 headlights in my girls car and this definately gave me a few more things to think about. Awesome work.

Thanks. For some reason, the camera made the dash look like it's half lit in spots. Weird.

that depends on who you ask.

yes, the stanley units found in the TSX is probably the best bang for your buck and size.

But, arguably, the LS 430 projectors are the "best".

anyone can argue about which is best tho.

more like personal preference and it all depends on the application and intended use.

I love what you did, how much do think I would be spending if I
wanted to do a project like this?

Wow. I don't have an 2nd gen IS so I am not familiar with its lighting system. I did not know that the HID and non-HID system uses a different projector

wow, the output distance and radius you have with your new lens and projector is amazing. I never knew the stock HID was so limited in output, and probably even more so since I added a clear plastic headlight overlay for scratch protection...

By the way were you able to keep the AFS, or does that not matter since you have such a wide output angle from the new projector?

I believe that he does not have AFS because his IS did not come with HIDS from factory. Halogens do not get AFS
