That is a really really good idea if it can be wrapped lol. I dont know if the actual cover gets hot or not. If it can be done lol I am doing it but that I would get cleared asap cuz of heat.

Looks amazing. I actually saw someone do the same on their BMW over on Bimmerfest like a month ago. At that time I thought to myself, "Wow, I wish someone would do this on their 2IS and post a tutorial". Wishes do come true! Too bad I wouldn't dare do this myself for fear of messing something up.

Quick question:

I see most people just apply the fabric and have no clear (resin) whatsoever. How will this hold up to everyday "rubbing"? The elements? Heat? Interested in doing my engine cover but I think that'll have to be resin'd.

i really wouldn't recommend doing the engine cover unless you resin it. it rained in dallas a little bit and got on my window switch and it wiped away just fine. didn't damp, wriggle(sp?) up, or anything. if you don't resin it, i think the biggest problem would be dirt. dirt would most likely get into the fabric and ruin it

so really...you have to resin it or its just not worth it

yes. it does look a lot easier than it is. it is not the easy eye. once you spray the glue...looking at your trim like that will just make you cry...

anyone that wants to do this...this is all or nothing...

but to be honest, if you truly want to give up or its just too hard...all you need is goo gone and a good hand and about a hr or so to rub every single trace of adhesive...

How does resin work? Is the process similar to epoxy? I understand that wetsanding is involved but how does it "cure"?

So I'm probably going to redo a few parts since I noticed I wasn't consistent in the direction of the weave on all my parts.... sounds trivial but I notice it and it's started to bother me. Since it's easy to redo, I'll just make it to my liking... but for now enjoy some pics of my work...

Oh yeah, and I know my nav screen is filthy.... It's about time to detail my car....

Has anyone found someone that has successfully used resin and clear coat with this product? I saw some guys on the E90 post forum tried some exterior parts, but they didn't do anything special to treat the parts.

I tested some fabric the other day by soaking it wet and drying it... fabric quality didn't change. I just wonder what happens if it gets dirty and you try to clean it (car wash, etc) how the stuff holds up.

def. the safest bet is epoxy and clear coat, but I'd like to see how has done this before I attempt it and screw up some parts...
