From Wisconsin to California...
Hey guys,
I am trying to move out to California some time in the near future and I currently own the IS 250 AWD.
I am trying to figure out whether I should sell/trade my car for a IS 250 RWD, or preferably the IS 350. I know I would not need the AWD out in Cali, so it makes sense to me.
Questions
1) IF I trade it in, should I do so up here in Wisconsin or trade it when I go down there? (I will most likely be driving it cross country to Cali.)
2) WHat do you guys think I will have to come out of pocket to do this if I get a 07' IS 350? And AWD is supposed to be more expensive than the RWD, correct?
3) Should I just keep the AWD?

Best financial bet is to keep what you have. Getting a new vehicle keeps you in debt and you'll take a bath on the '07. Pay off what you have and then consider a RWD something later on (unless it's already paid for and you feel like treating yourself).

ok in Socal you dont need awd, in Norcal you MIGHT need awd but thats very rare and for a very short amount of time THUS you can get by with rwd, i know i did with a mkIII supra, went thru grants pass in the winter with NO CHAINS ON SUMMER TIRES... im from hawaii so if i can do it with a old mkIII supra with 350hp, a modern is350 with someone from wisconson~ winter driving in cali should be a piece of cake for you, dont sweat that part.
The bean counting thou~ only you can figure out if a trade-in is worth it or not.

I don't think you should buy the same car even though it has a different engine or drivetrain or whatever. Life is too short, try out as many cars as you can before you die! Get another type of car man..you can have any car you want in california..I say you keep the AWD

Hey man...Leaving the group already??
I cant blame you! Nice warm weather. I would trade your car in WI or IL as the demand for the AWD is going to be better and demand for the IS350 is down due to the ISF and RWD. If you can get a deal go for the F and skip the 350 IMO.
Good luck with everything man!

Hrm... I think it all depends on your age. If you can afford it and you're on the younger side then yes trade up 'cause I know you'll use the speed and the extra hp. However, if you're getting more to the mature side of life then I don't think you'll really use the extra hp and etc. I say just use the car you have and add some little mods to it with the money that you would spend to make your ride more enjoyable to look at and call it a day.
