I have an '08... I hope I am not affected.

Is the fuel rail replacement a big job? I looked under the hood, and it seems like the "surge tank" (the black plastic upper intake) has to be removed, but do they need to pull the lower intake also? Because it seems like the injectors sit under the intake ports, in the valley of the engine.

I called CS today to check if my car was affected and gave them my VIN and they said it wasn't, but I was thinking maybe it was too early for them to even determine yet? Has anyone else called to check?

For real man??? These are trained techs who get to drive almost any car they want including the ISF. You think they really care about hot rodding your car?? They are probably more concerned with making money since they are on a flat rate pay.

Not exactly. It was previously a TSIB. Now it's an SSC and it covers a wider range of models and VINs.

There are three SSCs for ISx50 -

NOTE!!! Even if your car's VIN falls in the range, IT MAY NOT BE AFFECTED!!

SSC7LC - During the manufacturing process of two specific fuel pipes located in the engine compartment, high stress areas may have been created in the pipes. Combined with other factors such as the presence of corrosive agents in fuel, a crack may form over time leading to fuel leakage.

SSC9LB - The slide pin in the rear brake calipers may not operate smoothly on these vehicles. If the vehicle continues to be operated under these conditions, the brake pads may make noise.

SSC9LC - Customers may experience a noticeable gradual increase in the steering effort necessary at low speeds when turning the steering wheel to the complete left or right position. This condition may be most perceptible when parking the vehicle.

MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL OF THIS:

So, even if your car falls in the range, IT MAY NOT BE AFFECTED!!

You must contact your dealer and have the need for these repairs validated.

Most performance mods need a watch and timed course to demonstrate actual improvement. Few deliver the advertised claims. Many are actually worse than stock. The best performance mods are made to the driver.

Emotional arguments - They're not just for chicks anymore.

A car can get hurt by more than just "Hot Rodding" it.
