if u drive in S mode u can set the orange light to go off at 3,500 rpms to use it kind of like a preset shift light.or u can set it all the way up at 6,500-ish so u kno when to shift your car if your mashin on the freeway or sumtin.. my red light comes on at 100 just left it like that from the factory.

We only have the ability to limit the maximum gear, or increase that limit, but we cannot shift the car, even in S mode.

ROFL! i have to say, thats what came to my mind first when I read the thread title hahaha. Dont feel stupid, when I first got my IS, I thought something was wrong with my speedo too because some dork at the stealership set it at 40 MPH

Seriously? I...can't tell if you're pulling our legs or not.
I've been 125 MPH max. Hell I've cruised at 100-110 for long stretches on major interstates before, so I'm very familiar with the red ring.
But..but..GREEN RING...must..see
Ok I'm not THAT irresponsible. I'm stupid enough to cruise 100-110 in the fast lane on a CLEAR straight interstate, but would never touch 140+ on the streets.
