Default Decision IS350 vs A4.3.2

A4 seems to have finer interior and more advanced electronics, but much less power. What other things should I consider? Like A4 has folding down rear seats. What can be strong feature from Lexus side? Reliability? Help to decide if somebody had the same dilemma

yeah, i think you should ask in some other forum, because people will tell you to get a lexus here, and over there they'll tell you to buy the audi.

My buddy was looking at new cars. I wouldn't recommend the A4 though. He test drove it and I was sitting next to it he kept complaining it lacks power. He drove the Lexus and liked the interior but too comfortable and luxury for his taste. So he went and bought a 335.

I have asked in Audi forum. Not so many answers so far.

335 can be good however costs $5K more.

It's fairly simple. IMO:

I haven't had a chance to play with the new audis, but if they are anything like the old ones of the last few years:

The audi will be more responsive and communicative with the driver. The audi will be more plush and 'feel' better built.

The lexus will be far more reliable. I am honestly hoping that audi gets a lot better in this department because I like where they are headed, but they aren't there yet. The lexus will have much more advanced and reliable electronic systems. Make no mistake, the japanese are kings of electronics. The IS350 will be faster than anything but the new S4, and that will be a fairly close race.

I am very biased against BMW because of a terrible experience (though it was 'wicked' fun to drive hard), so I won't comment on that except by saying i'd take the 335d over anything short of an ///M if I had to buy another bmw.

Lease or buy? Planning on modding? If so, get a 2.0T and forget the 6's all together. But if you want a nice daily driver that has some giddy up but is reliable and luxurious... go for the IS. If you like a little more sporty feel/feedback and aren't a huge speed freak then get the 3.2 as your DD, but modding options are about as limited as those with the 350.

Hope this helps. Did you post on Audizine? I might respond over there too haha.

i test drove a new audi a4 before i got the IS350. the audi handles really well and the interior is nice...the turbo4 cylinder model had a lot of power, though lacking top end power. the main reason i got a is350 was i got a killer deal on it, while the new a4 had just been out i think maybe 1-2 months and hence a deal wasnt going to happen. nice car though.

I was an Audi man before my IS, so I have followed both cars closely. As it stands now with the new A4, I'd go with it over the IS. The Audi is the freshest design, which wins a lot of points in my book. But more subjectively, the A4 falls into catagories the IS does not. Mainly being one of "art." The Audi line has character that you don't see too often on the streets.
As far as power, I'd skip the 3.2 and stick with the turbo. It's energetic, more economical, and costs less. Plus if you are into modding, chipping is a piece of cake.
One downside, one that has already been mentioned, is the reliability. This is one area the Lexus will beat the Audi in. Interestingly, my 2003 A4 was very reliable, so I can't say this is a catagory that would stop me from getting another A4. Plus with a 4-year warranty, you'll likely be covered for the duration of your ownership and not have to worry.
By the way, I just came back from an Audi Performance drive at the racetrack and the new A4 handled a lot better than the IS AWD tester. I think the latest Audi is a winning combination, but you have to decide which factors are most important to you. To sum up, the Lexus is still quite well rounded and you can't go wrong with either. It's just not as special as it once was since it's been out for a few years and other cars have come along.
Best wishes!

I had a big list before getting my IS350:
A4, 335i, IS350, G35, G37, S4.... were the top ones.

I cancelled out the A4 because of lack of power, then cancelled the G35, G37 because they are coupe. I dont like the G35 sedan at all....
then it came down to the S4, 335i, and IS350. 335i was way to expensive with similar options as the IS. around 7 grand more. and the S4 is too unique and an new they are super pricey, costs of repair are ridiculous and its not very reliable.

LexusIS350 won in reliability, price, value for what you pay, it does 0-60 in 4.9, great on gas, interior. but mainly the price and reliability.
what im trying to say is that the IS350 is a more reliable, faster A4. so i dont see whay even get the A4. and the IS350 has more mods available. hehe

Im not saying this because i have a lexus, im telling you this because I chose lexus over all other ones, and that is the reason i have a lexus..... so I really think its better chioce.

Its funny, this is my post number 335
