Default Oil change for 08 IS250

Do Lexus dealers use synthetic oil for the changes? I dont feel like paying $100/change so will be going elsewhere but want to make sure I get the right oil.

Can I use regular 5W30?

THanks

$100 per oil change?! It should just be around $50 or so for oil and filter. Or atleast that's what my dealer charges. I'm pretty sure they just use regular dino. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong though.

They do tend to charge a lot here in CA,
what I do is buy Royal Purple 5W-20 and have them do the oil change,
I haven't bought all my tools yet for self oil change, need to do that soon.
If you buy your own oil they'll only charge you for labor & filter.

You need 7qt of oil

I've did that before too. Bought 7 qts or RP which was about $50 and they charged me $35 for labor and filter. Ended up trading it in about two weeks after too lol.

Deacon,

Probably the best oil to use in the 1gen and 2gen. 5w30 for hot summer heavy driving is fine as well. Mobil 1 stands the test of time and since the 2gen is easy to change like the 1gen, much worth doing yourself as the oil and filter only cost about $30 for synthetic.

In answer to the OP's question, the car comes with Dino oil and that's what the dealers put in unless instructed otherwise. $100 is about the going rate for a synthetic oil change at the dealer but it's too high for Dino oil.

wow $100? I hope they lube your rear end to while they stick you with that bill... I never asked how much the dealer charged and I am glad I didnt.... Haha at 10k, second oil change, I switched the oil in my gf's IS350 to German Castrol, and picked up about 2mpg according the computer. This car seems to like it. IMO DIY FTW MFef (any more acronyms I can throw in here?)!

My dealer doesnt use regular dino oil... We use Castrol Synthetic Blend normally, and we also offer Castrol full syntehtic. Every dealer is different though...

In my little opinion.

Genarally, 5W30 is going to be recommanded for is250 of 350. if you put on

the hood you can find that.

Ah! and I recommand Germany Castrol Full Synthetic oil which is 5W30.

It makes my car sound smoothy and you also can feel with expesially, high RPM.

Have a great day ^ ^

You can just do it yourself. You have the tools in the trunk that came with the car, only thing missing is something to remove the filter canister. Then just buy the oil and filter element.

wth my local dealers (Longo Lexus) only charged me like $55 for my oil changes. Or bring your own oil/filter and get it for even cheaper.
