Is500?
I took in my new IS250 AWD for it's 1000 mile service and XM install(Best of Sirius rocks!). When I picked it up I talked some "shop" w/ my service writer. He's a 350 guy and was happy to talk cars. I was lamenting over an IS350 AWD and he said that the IS may become it's own "line". Not sure exactly what he meant by that but I assume that the IS "line" will offer many arrays of product. He said there was a rumor of a IS500. A lower HP version of the F. I would go out on limb and hypothesis a more traditional "luxury" F w/ less power geared toward the guy who wants the luxury trim and some ponies under the hood rather than the more race styling interior of the F.
If they offer it in AWD then I'm all over it. He felt the 350AWD was not on the horizon.
On a side note he stated the updated nav disk was not worth considering.

I give it 3 to 5 years if they do decide to change it up! I think thats why they disco the SC and made the 250 convertible.. But seriously if they do make the IS500 I rather get the GS, cause their going to be around the same price, I would think!! Thats my own point of view. But who knows, everything is competition..

The IS500 is the IS-F (it has a 5.0L engine). If anything, the 4.6L engine found in the GS and LS would be the next contender, but in all honesty, WHY?
As far as the IS350 having AWD, I highly doubt it because higher costs will translate the IS350 AWD costing about the same as the GS350, which leads into internal competition. The price of the IS and GS need to be significantly different so that each model markets to different clientele with different budgets, not the same clientele with the same budget.

Totally agree. In my experience, the sales and service people at a dealer have the least (accurate) info. Adding another V8 IS model makes no business sense at all. What needs most doing is upping the hp of the base car. The 350 and IS-F are already strong motors.

As I said in my original post that my GUESS would be that it would be a less "sporty" model. Meaning the interior would have wood trim instead of the aluminum. The suspension would be less agressive as well. It would be geared towards guys like me who want HP but not the ricey race look and feel. Luxury and power. Power beyond the 350. Yes there is a market for these type of cars. Many consumers may prefer the IS over the GS based on looks and interior and can afford either. If you offer those customers some other options like a detuned 5 litre w/o the sport look inside they will buy it.

Nonetheless, I doubt we will see an IS500 in the 2gen.

I agree with Philip, it's so UN-LEXUS/UN-TOYOTA like for them to have an IS-F with a 5.0 V8 and a "regular" IS500, they didn't even bother to build BOTH a hardtop convertible and a regular 2-door coupe for the IS, even though there should be a market for a regular 2-door coupe.
Few manufacturers are like Mercedes Benz who thinks they need to build many variations of the same model (like S600, S65 and S63) even though each of them may sell in small volumes.
