I placed a special order for a 2009 IS250 6MT/PT/HL/NV/Z1/LR/P5 for $33,884 + TTL. MSRP is $37,143 so $3259 off MSRP before taxes.

what's 6MT/PT/HL/NV/Z1/LR/P5 mean? So i would need to add luxury package to get the rear shade? Isn't that standard

those are just the codes for the different options you can get. ie. PT is premium package, NV is navi, etc...

so a local dealership was telling me that lexus hasn't made/isn't going to be making non-nav 09 250's with HID's this model year.. and that if you wanted HID's on a 250, you'd have to get some sport package which includes the x-package, nav, etc?? are they just trying to get me into one of their already shipped 09's as quick as possible or is there any merit to what the sales dudes were saying? please say it isn't so??

hmmm.. I think for 36k you can get a 08' 350. Wouldnt that sound better, yes even though its a 09, I would rather paid for a 08' 350.

i was told all 2009 IS won't come with HID. If you want HID you gotta pre order and wait for 2-3 months. Sucks

Anyone in So. Cal has gotten the 2009 IS 250 lately? I am looking for 2009 IS250, RWD, Nav and premium package (MSRP around 37.5K) in So. Cal. and so far, the best offer I have got is 33,995 before tax and license. Did you get a better deal? Thanks for your help.

^^

I'm in so cal and I just leased on 09 this weekend. Prem, Nav, and 18's in Glacier Pearl/Black. Negotiated price was ~32,500 and then we worked the lease from there. The negotiated price in addition to Money Factor lexus is offering made it a deal I couldnt pass up. The trick is to do all your bargaining on the phone and talk only to managers.

Remeber to buy at the end of the month as oppose to the first week of the month. Typically, it is best to negotiate with the internet sales department online and play dealers against eachother.

Remember December sale is coming up for Lexus Christmas event! especially near the end of the month. Get low % & low price!

Does big down payment help the OTD price? I'm thinking that might be a factor since Credit is to tight.

I'll make the same deal at the beginning of the month so that's one less I have to sell at the end. As for playing dealers against each other, I don't do that. I'll work with someone, and if I have to match a price once, I will, but if they keep telling me that such-and-such place has it for this much, I tell them to go buy it there.

Right now, DTR event is lease rates on 09 IS's, and the 08's have the same rate specials the RX does. No other incentives.

Down payment will be an issue if you have spotty credit. The more you invest, the more favorable the banks are due to less risk.

I emailed all socal dealership internet departments for my '08 sale last Feb. Ended up with 750 below invoice and the exact color/car I wanted. Do you deal here, walk in and sign the papers, and off you go.

I have an interesting story regarding this topic. Last month I decided to special order a 2009 IS350. My family has bought three Lexuses in the past several years from the same salesman at the same dealer. They have always matched the lowest price received from other nearby dealers. Now, I went to order the 350. Two other dealers near me were willing to give $5000 off list. I go back to my regular dealer and my salesman says they can't come close to that much off. So, they bring out the sales manager, who is new. He says the most they can go is $2000 off list. I tell him how we are loyal dealership customers and he does not care. He says each deal needs to be made on its own merit and that it means nothing that we bought past cars from this dealer. I'm willing to give him a few hundred more than the other dealers so I can buy the car from him, but he won't budge. $2000 off list or no deal. So, I ordered the car from another dealer, for $5000 off list, who was more than pleasant work with. I think this new sales manager needs to put a little more effort in keeping loyal customers. I did not ask him to beat any price, simply match it (or, as I said, I'd even give him a little more). I was shocked that this dealer let me walk after all the business we've given them over the years.
