looks sweet! did you use extra 3m tape? I had a dealer install mine, and the corners are not sticking as well...

fyi from experience. 3m Tape will probably hold better than the OEM stuff. reason is because the metal mounts on the lip are actually TAPED on. so wut difference would it make if u put 3m tape on those areas plus more

i was also able to install the rear lip without cutting anything and it held up for 3 yrs. its on there GOOD. does not budge. not cutting it takes a little bit more effort, plus its reversible if you decide to sell it.

just make sure u get the RED 3m industral tape that holds 5lbs (available at staples). i did the same with my front gfx lip and oem wing. i got flamed for it a while back but i dont care because it works and works great.

old pic but here u go

I did the same thing after reading this thread. I took off all the clips that was taped on and added some extra double sided tape. I agree with the above poster. Use the red 3M tape that's rated for 5lbs/sq. in. I used the same tape on my old '01 330Ci to tape on an M3 lip spoiler and it didn't go anywhere for 3 years. Good stuff! I hope that I'm going to get the same results for the rear GFX.

Looks good Kent. If i do decide to keep the rear I may go this route rather then cutting.

I want to tape mine, but it rains a lot in here TX, so I'm still somewhat hesitant.

Clark did you cut out the muffler holes or just leave it as is?

No cutting required. It actually fits pretty snug right underneath the OEM rear bumper. It's been raining a lot here in Chicago the past couple of days (left over Gustav system) and I drive everyday for work (i'm a real estate agent). I've been keeping my eye on the the lip and so far so good!

No need to remove the OEM rear at all. Just slap that puppy on. You might want a 2nd set of hands though just to make thing easier.

Good to know what the rear lilp would look like with the original tips, since I'll be putting those back on when winter hits. Don't wanna ruin that nice clean shine during the winter on the new tips!
