Default IS 350 in inclement weather

Hello all,

I love the IS 350, but, never having owned a rear-wheel-drive car before, I am concerned about it will handle in poor weather. I live in the Washington, DC area. How have people found that the car handles in (1) snow/ice; (2) winter roads that may have some snow/ice on them, but not during a storm; and (3) rainy conditions year-round?

Thanks for any impressions.

Rain you should be just fine. But for snow and ice if you don't have snow tires it's pretty dangerous. I've actually tested my IS350 when I had it on the snow and it didn't go anywhere. This was an 06 IS350. Since then I've traded it for an IS-F so I'll be getting snow tires for that car.

I agree on the no-go in snow. I got 'stuck' 100ft from home in 2 inches of snow. Took over half hour to get back to the garage...Car just wouldn't go at all. The stock tires are summer only. I live in the Pacific NW..Lots of rain but not snow too often. The car is ok in the rain bul like I said no way in he snow with the stock tires.

Just replaced the OE tires with some Eagle 1 all seaons..will be intersting to see how the do in the snow should I encounter any this winter

The IS350 is perfectly fine in the snow with either a good all season tire where you are located or Snow tires. I went my first winter in IL with the summer tires and did just fine. My second winter I had snow tires/rims from a member that moved and it did make a difference!

Doesn't VA shut down when it snows? I lived there years ago and I recall back around 1990 they had one of the worst snow storms and we got hit for a week straight. That was fun I still have pics of how bad it got.

I had no problems..it all depends how heavy your foot is. Put it in snow mode and you should be ok. I drove in about 5 inches of snow and made it.

There isn't enough bad weather in the DC area to even ask that question. If you are worried about it, get the AWD.
