Just replaced mine a month ago. I spent a lot of time looking for the OEM one. I got mine here: http://www.lexuspartsworld.com/Scrip...?idproduct=314
It is actually a lexus dealer (Roseville or something like that).

The dealer will replace it with the cheaper (it is literally cheaper) 87139-YZZ08 for any maintenance/service work. But for warranty work, the dealer will need to replace it with 87139-07010 part like the one from the car originally. I checked (my local lexus) with stevenscreek lexus and they have both. Fremont Magenssun lexus only has the YZZ08. Cheaper to buy online.

I just ordered one from sewell yesterday along with some wiper blade inserts. The toyota dealership where i got my oil changed wanted $52 for the filter and $25 for both wiper blades. I told them no thanks, I'll order one online..... I'll take a pic when it comes in.....

I bough a cabin filter from WIX for an RX350...and it looked just like the stock one. So what I'm saying is..it's probably the closest thing you'll get to the original fitler.

Just ordered one from Ebay made by TYC that seems to be good quality. No carbon tho. Not sure how long the carbon removes smell anyway...

Next time I'll grab the WIX carbon to compare.

LOL! I had similar thoughts when I was reading through this thread, but you put it way better than I would have.

The bottom line is that you're getting in and out of the car introducing allergens all the time, and many/most cars don't even have in-cabin air filters. I think these things are money makers for Lexus 1st, and beneficial for the consumer a distant 2nd. Putting the air on "recirc" will keep you from breathing any horrid outside air if it's of great consequence to you.

No need for this in Texas. I don't think anything could survive inside a non-air conditioned car.

Toyota filters are in a red box. these days since they are cutting back they are using some kind of cheap aftermarket filter made for our cars. and thats what they are selling. for my airfilter i used the ls460 charcoal filter

Wow, a lot of info on this thread. I read through it and tried to make a final summary post for myself that covers everything. I have a 2008 IS350 I bought new in January. It's at a little over 17k miles now.

Please tell me if I'm off on anything below:

For cleaning the filter, how does that go? just removing stuff off of it and putting back in?

As far as buying, it seemed these are the three solid ones to buy:

I googled this part number and stumbled upon an online store that sells Toyota OEM parts. They had part number 87139-07010 listed there for $26.00 plus shipping. I almost bought it from them, but then decided to call and make sure. I was told by their rep that part# 87139-07010 was superseded by 87139-YZZ08, and if I placed an order for 87139-07010 on their web site, they woul ship me 87139-YZZ08. At that point, I decided to go ahead and get the part from the Lexus dealer. I would have probably saved $10.00 if I purchased 87139-YZZ08 on line, but it would have taken about a week to get the filter, and I would not have known for sure if this was the correct part for my 2006 Lexus GS 300. From the post that I am quoting here, it appears that the 87139-07010 and the 87139-YZZ08 parts are actually different filters. There's no telling unless you get them both and compare them side by side. I don't think that wasting nearly 3 hours on this research was worth a potential saving of $10, especially since I did not get the YZZ08 part. I could not find the 87139-07010 for sale anywhere on the web....[/url]

And lastly, for the install info, seems these two posts should cover it:

And lastly, I guess this info is something I should just keep in mind if I deal with it:

On a somewhat related note, I have not done anything about my air filter yet and was planning on getting a blitz one. Any suggestions on where to buy from? Maybe I can get both the air filter and cabin air filter in one shot (although if I'm really supposed to just clean the cabin air filter at 15k miles, I'll just sit on it til then)

Wanted to bump this thread again to find out if there's anything new regarding cabin air filters. I'm at over 21k miles now in my 2008 IS 350 and haven't done anything with it yet. Looking through the thread it seems I can just clean it for now and change at 30k. But I wanted to make sure I buy the best replacement filter
