so you have to use a separate switch? because the idea is to use the stock switch only for a controllable on/off.

dang it! I thought it was completely done through the stock switch as well.. I guess I'll wait a lil longer for someone to figure this out. and if not then i guess I'll just go this route as well... THANX A BUNCH!!!!!!!

I put the switch next to the gas+trunk switches below the steering wheel.

trick is to run the wire from the inside to the outside engine bay first, then make connection to those wires (white and green)

Never gonna happen with a US spec BEAN ECU. The controls for the lights are multiplexed on the BEAN, and there's no simple way to separate the fogs from the headlights without extra wiring and a switch. I dug deep into this when Technique asked about it (after we figured out how to kill the link between the headlight washers and the windshield washers) and there is just no way to do it with a US spec ECU and the OEM switchgear. Sorry.

And yes, there is no comparison between the 1IS and the 2IS when you look into the wiring. This is why I am still very skeptical the proposed 2JZ swap will work with all the original controls and indicators. If we could just reprogram the engine ECM, we could put anything in there...

Can't you just rewire the foglights to the same wiring as the parking light setting. That way you can run you DRLs and the fogs at the same time. I would think that you should be able to just splice the wire so that the fogs turn on like normal when the HID lights come on but then splice the wire to the wiring for when just the parking lights are on. I may take a look at it and see if it's possible.

I did this mod and soldered everything via relay. Some of the info wasn’t correct but I figured it out.

Pin 6 and 7.

Pin 6 and 7 out of the BEAN module goes to the fog lights (one each). You can circumvent that and wired directly to a 15A fuse switched circuit or thru a switch.

I go over all the options in the video.

My foglights are tapped into the engine, they turn on and off with the OEM stalk but only turn on when the engine is on, engine off they dont work.

Just did this mod today @sinister2c thank you so much. The results were great! I'll post up pictures soon! Been waiting years to do this and your video really helped a lot.

How did you modify yours to work like that?

Someone did it for me but they cut the power wire and tapped the ignition wire. I don't understand how exactly but that's what he told me. 7 years and still no issues so I guess he did it correctly.

The fog light indicator doesn't light up anymore on the dash but I just leave the fog lights on so I never have to worry, especially after switching to LEDs (useless for function but the old HIDs were problematic)
