Forgotten items on 30k service
My 40k service is coming up soon so I decided to look at the service guide to see if there's anything other than the normal oil change that's required.
I turned to the previous page and to my surprise I saw that on the 30k service you need a Brake Fluid change and Engine Air Filter change!!!!
Can't believe I missed those items!! I'm going to pick up the air filter today.
Is the brake fluid change really required? Normally I like to do things myself, so do you guys know if I can do this or am I going to have to take it to the stealership?

um, here's a word of advice. change all fluids when needed. you'll save a few bucks no doing it but you could end up causing extra wear and tear. it's not worth it on the long run.
that being said have you done either the differential fluid or the in cabin air filter?

I'm definitely going to change the brake fluid. I just wanted to see if it's possible for me to do it or if it's one of those things that only the dealership can do. I have changed the air cabin filter. My car is RWD so I don't think I have to change the differential fluid yet.

well there's two sets of differential fluid. one for the front if you have AWD and one for the rear regardless. the general guideline is changing differential fluid is 15-30k miles depending on driving habits. some people go as far as 60k.

I would have it changed when you have a brake job done. I wouldnt worry too much about it otherwise. You can have the fluid checked to see if there is any moisture. If there is excess then I would have it changed regardless.
