It would have opened easier for you if you took the key and used it to open it. It snaps right open for you. Glad you got it opened though.

^ what he said. Thats the same process I used, used the key itself to snap it open. You can usually find the battery at any drug or Radio Shack for around $5. I know the dealership charges you around $9.

I went to Home Depot for some things last night and thought while I was there I would just pop open the thing and see if I could maybe find a battery... I thought there would be a screw holding it together, so I turned off the car, got the screw driver out and started to look no screw...so it must just pop apart or something, then I started twisting it and had this thought that I was going to need to call someone and explain why I was stuck at Home depot so I stopped.
It's funny now , but I was panicked at the time cause I didn't know if my car would even start again.

The battery pops right out.. you might need a small flathead or something flat to pick it out.. If the smart key breaks you always have the manual key .. Listen to lexboi, buy it from ebay or an online store to get the best price.. Usual cost for them are $4.00CAD and the dealer charges $13.00CAD

Radio Shack, yes. Any drug store.. probably not. It's not a terribly popular size; I haven't seen it at Walgreens, RiteAid, CVS, etc.

Radio shack ...Carries them but doesn't always have them in stock...I stopped at two drug stores yesterday , with the car running in the parking lot..., No luck... Three Radio shacks... the first radio shack had none and said the store down the street had one, I went there and they showed it in the computer, but not on the shelf. They called the third store and they had 7 so I made them go check and they had them, I ended up getting there at about 8:50 just before they closed....I should have bought all seven of them LOL...

Take out the key and insert the key into the corner and slowly ply/twist it in a circular direction. Your fob will slowly come loose and will eventually open. Just gently remove the battery and replace it. I think the battery number is CR1632

This might be a little off topic but where does everyone get their batteries? I get the 5 pack Energizer ones from Amazon and they only last around 1.5 years without being used. Am I storing them wrong or something? They last just about the same time as the battery being used in the key fob. The reason I ask is because my key fob ran out of batteries today and I went to use one of my remaining 4 batteries I had ordered from Amazon and all 4 were already dead... I had to go to radioshack to get a new one (really expensive compared to the $7 I paid for 5 on Amazon).

I just changed mine last week. Here is what the warning looks like. For you curious people.

I got the warning about every other time I drove the car.

I got my replacement battery at sewell for about 3 bucks, they changed it for me and everything. Even though I knew how, they still did it.
