My girlfriend actually found that site. She might buy it for my birthday..which is on the 19th of this month . I might give it a shot. I seen it in action on youtube, but i'm iffy about it because how can it get all those readings through the 12v adapter?

It doesn't get anything other than RPM (and of course power for the unit) through the 12v adapter. It gets most of its useful data from an accelerometer. Remember that much of the data (e.g. horsepower, torque, ...) is not measured, but rather calculated from the acceleration and rpm data.

Don't waste your money (our your GF's).....
I bought one 5+ years ago, used it for a night with a buddy who had the same car but we had different mods, to see how different they were (mine was faster and had better braking).
The g-tech then sat in a drawer in my tool box until about a 2 months ago when somebody remembered that I had it and I gave it to them...
$300 I would have been better off wiping my butt with

The original G-tech was very picky about being mounted level in order to get accurate results, the new version supposedly compensates for that.

Its impossible to get an RPM reading through the 12v port. All that is for is simply to power the unit.. The GTech unit just has a gyrometer built into it that reading g-forces. I have the original, bought back in like 2000 or something, and it was pretty useless. I was running 10's in my Camaro, and the best i could get the GTech to read was 11's. So its not that accurate, but its a cool toy.

yeah, may not be the most accurate, but if u needed some baseline before you modded some items, it is a great way to identify if you've gotten any improvements. for instance (provided u can find a private/safe road at ur own risk, and relatively similar ambient conditions), if u read 6 sec to 60 mph b4 mods, and perhaps 5.4 sec after, u might say there was at least some improvement.. saves u the trip to a test track or becoming a dyno queen..

Tell that to Gtech, they advertise the ability to pick up rpm from the cigarette lighter right on there website here: http://www.gtechpro.com/why.html and here http://www.gtechpro.com/accuracy.html where they say: "We are particularly proud of our ability to gather RPM data right through the cigarette lighter which allows us to have Torque measurements along with Sequential Shift lights and RPM replays. We are the first in the world to do this."

From what I've heard, the G-tech is much improved over the first generation unit you owned.
