New here, and a couple of questions
Hey guys and gals!
Just wanted to introduce myself, the screen name is "Enginerd" cause I'm a mechanical engineer and proud of it, reside in San Diego, and 100% Latvian (tiny lil place in North eastern europe). So after having a very reliable and fun 98 prelude for 6 years (150K miles) I got me a 06 IS350 w/17K miles for $29K. Has the nav, ML, and luxury package, and O.Z. Galileo III which are a bit small (18's) but actually look better in person...basically feel spoiled and happy . So far got the OEM spoiler, red outs, and HID blue aerotect fog light covers. My motto is "keep it simple and classy" so the future holds Tien SS, Tanabe Medalion, and OEM front GFX lip. I have been reading this forum for a couple of months now while searching for a car and now that I have one it's time ask a question or two.
1) Has anyone re-finished the wood trim, and if so then how? I have a couple of scratches that would probably be no big deal to lots of people but what can I say...I'm OCD like that.
2) Has anyone switched the speakers and sub, I love the ML but just curious what size is the sub and if anyone has just changed the speakers and kept the ML amp, if so was it worth it?
Anyways, I THINK I attached a pic but there is only one way to find out, so nice to get the formal "Hello" out.

Hello Jani!
Welcome to the Club!!!
Thanks for posting a pic of such a beautiful car. You'll love it.
As far as your questions are concerned.
#1: I had a scratch on the wood that was visible, but you really couldn't feel it when you brush your finger on it. I used Meguiar's Scratch X to gently buff the wood, and it worked fine. If you can feel the scratch with your finger, you need a more intense cleaning. Check out the Maintenance Forum.
#2: The ML System is the best in the industry. I wouldn't mess with it. I do sometimes crave for a little more bass when I'm listening to dance music, but otherwise, I like the ML system as is. But if you want to change it, you can check our Audio Forum.

Hey congrats on your car....you will so love it!!! I like your style..simple and classy!! I would do the same PhilipMSPT proposed you for your wood trim (I actually did the same and it worked!!) and as for the audio system, it actually depends A LOT in your ear. I am not a fan AT ALL of OEM audio systems. ML is good for standard OEM audio systems but far from giving a nice SQ (real one). However, to modify it would cost you a fortune....anyways WELCOME and ENJOY!!!

Thanks all the welcomes, I will probably leave the ML alone for a while. Thanks for the tip on the wood trim care, I will definetly give that a shot. Oh, and here is what the IS replaced, though I loved the lude I was starting to feel a bit silly driving it around, just a younger persons car. I do miss the "go-kart" lil car though, it was easy to zip around traffic and fun in the twisties. But I LOVE the power the IS has, and it feels much more "age appropriate". Besides, I love a project...now I just gotta get a fixer upper house WITH a 2 car garage to tinker in, time to stop renting a darn condo with HOA crazies. All in time though I suppose.
