TPMS is driving me insane! Can't get the Light off...
Guys I need your help. I've tried searching and I can't seem to figure this out because every seemed to do this trick so much easier.
My factory wheels have been laying in the garage for almost a year now w/ the TPMS sensors in them. I never bothered to take them out because I said I would do it when I needed to get new tires for my GT-7's. I decided to order a new set of TPMS sensors however for the GT-7's and I was going to get them installed and programmed.
However, when I took the wheels to the tire shop they couldn't install the new sensors because they were to big to fit through the opening of the GT-7's. They said that I needed to drill a hole blah blah but I honestly don't feel comfortable w/ anybody drilling a hole in my Volks.
So today said let me just take my old factory wheels, take the sensors out of those, and put in the new sensors so I could do the ZIP TIE TPMS trick. 40 dollars later I had the sensors that my car is programmed with. I bought some rubber washers and zip ties and was excited to finally get rid of that damn light.
After two hours of trying to get it to work I'm out of ideas. The zip tie trick just isn't working for me. My brother and I were sitting in the car trying to get the light to turn off and it just wouldn't budge. We applied a lot of pressure nothing, we tried zip tying in different ways, moving the rubber spacer washers around and nothing changed.
Can someone please help me. I know I might look a little stupid now but I really need your help guys.
Could the problem be that I'm using rubber spacers and not plastic spacers? Do I need to unplug the battery?..

I agree on drilling holes, I'd just have someone else do it so I could have them held accountable if anything happened.
My Maya's aren't technically tpms compatible but the factory just drilled a hole in each and viola, compatible. They drilled the hole exactly opposite of the valve stem hole, if anything it helps balance the wheel more, not that that 1/16th ounce is a huge deal.
