Default Car feels floaty/blown away by wind?

The feel you have when your car is subjected to very strong cross winds, and its being blown around by the wind across your lane...

Ever since I upgraded to 18", either every single time I drive on the hwy NJ gets heavy crosswinds, or there is something wrong since I feel like my car is pulling around left and right like I am getting blown around, I hear wind sounds, then again the IS sucks with wind sounds.

I think it might be the tires, I have Kumho Ectas ASX, but I read good reviews on them, or it might be the balancing issue, but the tires + rims were balanced when they were shipped to me and the company seem to be very reputable

Or could it be the 18" give you better steering feel + new tires = sensitive steering and being tossed around cuz of NJ poor roads?

Or could it be the tire pressure? I have awd and all 4 tires are about 39 PSI nitrogen filled.

I used to feel confident with my 17" going relatively quickly.. but not so much with the 18".

It should just be the wind.

And if all fails, lower the car...

lowering the car doesnt do anything for cross winds, your cars side surface area is the same. You are really underestimating how strong wind can be. The side of a car is a large surface area, even with a small gust thats a lot of surface area for wind to push on.

Dear Pedo Bear, =)
You can try to put some more kids in your car to add weight for a more solid ride during high winds- it might help a little.

The first thing I notice and I drove on the freeway for 30 miles back home. It felt like I was flying. It felt like i was on a airplane and I felt like I need to throw up. But after driving my car for almost 2k. Its all good.

could it be the directional tires....but then again most new cars I've driven suffers from this condition. When I'm stopped turning left and some car blasts by on the right the new car get kind of pushed away as if there is some sonic boom

HAHHAHAHA

I was about to say I'm too young to have kids until I realized what you are actually suggesting a second later

Thats pretty cool other people have this problem, I just wasnt sure if its always high winds lately or just my car, like before when 18 wheelers blow past me I didnt feel like I was getting sonic blasted away, or maybe its cuz I used to drive quickly, but now I drive slow to save gas so I am getting blown past a lot more often lol

nabbun: I have about 500 ish miles on my new tires, and I got my tires from a tire and rim distributor in the mideast that mount balance and fill with nitrogen when you get tire and rims from them.

Yup, i've felt it before in the car. But to the cars defense, it's MUCH better at handling cross winds than many cars out there.
