Default IS350 launch control

How do you do a hard launch with the IS350? Can I do this:

* depress brake pedal
* rev engine up to 2000rpm
* let go of the brake pedal

Does this hurt my transmission?

not if you don't do it all the time. If you do it often you'd better get your tranny fluid changed out frequently

Way, way, way less than 100% in fact.

Labor wise it's vastly easier to replace the transmission than to replace all the fluid.

at 2000rpms.. ateleast in my car.. id be worried about rear tires. more than the tranny..

it cant hurt the tranny unless you maybe did it everyday for a loooong time

after doing the pedal dance.. if i brake torque above 1000rpms.. (which is barely even touching the gas).. i spin my tires

if my tires are heated up from a burnout i can brake torque to about 1500rpms and maitain a smooth launch

Just an FYI, here's what happens when stability is turned off (button on dash), but no pedal dance (2006 model).

Brake torqueing starting

If I remember correctly, lobuxracer found a note in the tech docs saying that you can damage the transmission if you brake torque for more than 5 seconds due to excessive heat.

^Overheating the fluid will happen in any automatic transmission car when you brake torque it. If you can't replace the fluid in this car then I would suggest to keep the brake torques to a minimum.

Mike RX.

So what's those pics supposed to show.. turning the trac off lets you burn some rubber? It will let you turn off trac until you reach 30mph so I don't know what's the difference between trac off button and pedal dance for launches.

^^ my car will still sometimes chirp when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and the traction light flicks so i think it cuts power.. i just feel like the car launches better with the pedal dance

Just some pics that I've been urging to show

Seriously though, from what I've read, the traction button and the pedal dance are two completely different things. I believe the pedal dance lets you spin tires all day long, where as hitting the traction button (on 06 models) doesn't.

Although, personally, I've never tried the pedal dance.

I thought the trac button allows you 30 mph's worth of pedal dancin' wheel spinning fun then they cut you off???
