Dunlop problems - sidewall bulge - anyone else?
Anyone else experience sidewall defects with their original Dunlops?
I have a 2007 IS250 AWD with 13K miles and Dunlop 225/45R 17 Sport 5000 tires. It's driven in a very easy manner & not aggressive at all. Several months ago I developed a bulge in the sidewall of one of my tires, had the tire replaced even though it looked like a manufacturing defect. Well today I wash the car and notice 2 more tires have the same problem. No doubt in my mind there is a defect issue with these tires. I'll take it up with the dealer & Dunlop tomorrow but in the mean time just looking for some feedback.
Thanks

Same problem here. Same vehicle, same tires. Tire developed a bulge a couple of months ago at about 10K. Tire dealer inspected it and said I must've hit a pothole (although I certainly don't recall having done so) and it cost me $200 to replace the tire since it was considered a "road hazard" and not under warranty. These low-profile tires have notoriously weak sidewalls. If they are so bad that this is becomes wide-spread problem, maybe Lexus can pull a few strings and get these tires replaced for free or at reduced cost. Other than our problems, I haven't heard much about this on this forum, though.

the dunlops are crap...look on tirerack they are the worst rated tires period. a few weeks ago i developed a leek through the sidewall of my tire and two other others have bubbled. i ordered for Yokohama's to put on the car, when the old tires came off the car they were worn to the core, and pretty much destroyed. i do mostly highway driving and the tires had 23k on them. about 3 tires were pretty badly torn up on the inside. since i have had my yokohama's on the cornering stability has greatly improved, wet traction is ten times better then the dunlop and the ride has also improved significantly.
if i was you i would buy some new tires and not the dunlops, they are crap tires.

i had 1 bubble and 1 leak, the bubbled one was replaced for free by the dealership (the guy said they 'slipped' it into the warranty since they felt bad the tire didnt even last me 7k miles

You're lucky the dealer did that. The Goodyear/Dunlop tire return facility is located near me. I know the manager there and he told me that each returned tire is inspected and if it is determined that there was no manufacturing defect then there is no credit given unless the tire had a road hazard warranty. I'll bet the dealer wound up eating the cost of your new tire.
