I installed the roof spoiler several months ago that uses the 3M double sided tape, now on left side the tape has started to come off. I can lift about a 1/2inch up on the left side, the right side is still solid. What is the best solution to fix this... I was think using super glue but most super glue leaves ugly residue. Does 3M make a glue that is the same glue as the 3M double sided tape? I would apply the glue to the tape - I think this would be the best solution.

I would think that you would want to take the whole roof spoiler off and clean up the area where the tape goes and re-apply with new 3m tape. Well that's what I would do in that situation. and when you put the tape back on make sure there's no dust/debris/dirt/etc. on that area.

I thought about that.. but that would be the last solution. That would take more time and cost more money.

I would do as the other member suggested. You dont want to use super glue and pretty much anything you do at this point its prone to come off again. Best is to remove it and apply new 3m tape IMO.

I would ask JavyLSU (PM him) as he has removed his a few times due to an accident and reapplied them. Best to ask someone that has experience IMO.

another reason I would do that is 'cause.... that roof spoiler isn't cheap is it? I wouldn't wanna lose that on the freeway or any road where someone will run it over. It's better to take time and buy some 3m tape than to buy the whole dang spoiler again

Which 3M tape are you using? I have the Lexon roof spoiler and used 3M Type 6384 tape which I got off the Bay;

From 3M's website:

Since it is an OEM tape for things like cladding and molding it is likely to be more durable. I haven't had any lifting issues with my spoiler and it is as solid as the day I put it on.

I honestly think that should be your only option. There really is no way to fix your problem other than removing the whole thing, cleaning the part thouroughly and replacing all the tape.

Use PFM, or if you can't find that Shoe Goo or one of the variants. It pretty much holds anything to anything, AND can be removed if needed. Best stuff ever IMO.

I haven't had any 3M tape lifting either. Did you use 3M wax & tar remover? You have to prep the surface before applying the 3M tape, otherwise it will not adhere properly.

I'd say remove it.. clean up the surface.. and then re-apply.

I've had my roof spoiler on for over a year now without any lifting issues.

Got this off another forum "well if the side that is lifting still has sticky-ness to it, then just take a heat gun/blow dryer and warm up the tape and press down again."

I will probably do this first... it seems the simpliest..

Got my spoiler off ebay too.. it was around $89 + shipping + painting = $200

That spoiler is not Lexon. it is Jun-Tw.

Also, if you notice the tape that comes on the Jun-Tw spoiler, it is very minimal. Only 4 strips of the 1/4 tape... that could be the reason why it is lifting. Simply not enough tape.

When i installed several Jun-Tw spoilers, I used a variety of 1" 3M tape to secure the spoiler...

So if i were you, i would re-do it and add more tape.

Well, finally reattached my roof spoiler.. I used the "3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment ", this stuff is solidly on. Btw.. the key to removing the 3M double sided tape is to use Brake Cleaner.. not rubber alocohol, WD40 or Goo. Just use some braker cleaner ... let it sits for about several minutes then remove.. make sure you don't wait until the brake cleaner dry.
