very nice. I am looking to do this mod also but with vaistech because i dont have ML.
Did you install this yourself or you took it out? How much did it cost?
Is there anywhere else you can place this at? I am going to put my EDFC module there and will have no place to put this. Is it possible to put this in the center console? Thx

The ash tray is very easy to do, and requires no cutting. You just have to disassemble the cigarette lighter plug so you can snake the plug through the small opening within the ash tray housing.

The picture shows the controls for the TV-Navi kit, which is a plug-n-play device that allows you to watch DVDs, use the Navi, and telephone functions while the car is in motion.
This device is a module, so it requires no "modifying" of stock wires, like the other Nav override hack does. Again, this is more expensive, but completely reversible.

Also, I find it easier to reach for the ash tray while in motion that below the steering column.

MLIAISON, the thread that JoeZ attached is the one I used, in combination with another one I found in the IS-F forum.
The only thing you won't see in those threads is how to bring the cable through the ash tray if that's where you want to have the controls at.
