I think you'll find Lexus ISx50 owners don't ever replace power steering fluid either :P

Unfortunately, looks like some members have had there motor assemblies replaced below 10k. I hope these units last!!! Seems like the power steering motor assembly was designed for efficiency in mind.

With almost 1k on my daughters I put 5-25 EP Mobil 1 in. Now I won't have to worry about it for a while.

Default Break-in period

I just bought my IS350 three weeks ago, and I'm very happy. I'm now in the process of selling my 2004 BMW 330i. When I originally purchased the BMW, I was told about (and subsequently experienced) a distinct break-in period. After about 3,000 - 4,000 miles, the car definitely performed better. It seemed to have more power, both off the line and when passing.

Has anyone here experienced something similar with their Lexus IS?

Welcome to the Club!

So, you say that after about 4k miles, you can feel "more" power?

Perhaps because you were gently breakin-in the car in the first 4k miles? Or perhaps you felt more comfortable with "pushing the car" to its limits after a few weeks?

I think it will be difficult to make the comparison, unless if you have two cars together: one that was "broken-in" and one that wasn't...

Welcome to Club Lexus and congrats on the IS.

I've always pushed my new cars to the maximum from the get-go and never felt any change?

i believe in following the guidelines for breaking in a car as per manual.

the most important thing would be to take it easy for the first 600 miles or so for your brakes. Be easy on them OK?

Threads merged. Search is a wonderful thing. If you search "break-in period" you will find this thread including everything on all sides of the break-in discussion.

Indeed, search is a wonderful thing. And in fact, I saw this thread. But my question was centered on change in the car's performance, not the owner's style of driving during the early miles. Hence, the new thread.
