Best performance and longest lasting are mutually exclusive....you can't have one and get the other.

i'm partial to bridgestone. s02, s03, and the re050.

i've had pirelli's before, but they bubble/break too easily and ruin ur rims. friend's got a set of goodyear f1 gs-d3 and those tires got kinda squishy at the track, while mine stayed ok. michelin's pilot sport lines wouldn't be too bad, but with they way the dollar is against the euro, it's a little more expensive. haven't tried yokohama's AD07, i assume it's pretty sticky.

re050, or re050a if u want minor tire rotation (side to side) and higher load rating.

Well I want to find a middleground for performance/longevity. Something that performs better than the stock dunlop tires & has around 20-30k mileage on it. Can anyone link me to some tires for a good price? Here is the tire place Im looking at and the different tires they carry: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fil...pager.offset=0

have you put Potenza RE960AS Pole position into consideration?

This link might help you:

nice find. But how do they compare to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2? What size would I need for front & rear? Whats the cheapest quote on the Potenza RE960AS Pole position?

The website says two different sizes...What is the difference?
225/45-17 245/45-17
225/40-18 255/40-18
Why are they much cheaper too?

it's 17 or 18" rims. u want the ones on the second line. smaller 225 for front and larger 255 for the rear, unless u have awd.

pick a brand you like and stick with it.

otherwise spend the money and experiment with different brands/tires and see what you like. questions like what's the best tire is so hard to answer because everyones situation and purpose and tastes are. use the tire decision guide at www.tirerack.com and they will help you narrow your choices down according to your preferences. Oh if you need more info then you can call them too

you will never find the best of everything in any tire. they are all very specific tools to getting very specific jobs done.

many tires can do a couple things very well but will lack in other departments such as great dry handling, good wet handling but makes a butt load of noise or wears out fast.

you'll live through buying couple sets to find out what you need.

Edit - Also, you don't have to spend the most to get the most. If you want pretty good tires that will last a bit, handle well and are cheap, try some Kumho Ecsta ASX or something. that's what I have on my '94 LS400 and they are great after a little warm up.

But I'll be putting Michelin PS2's on my IS for better handling. I have my stock rims for winter use. Summer tires tend to turn into slicks when the temp drops to freezing and below

A lot of people recommend the PS2's but they are a bit pricey compared to the bridge stone re760 & Potenza RE960AS Pole positions.
