Default Air coming through upper vents when footwell is selected...

Yesturday after work i brought my '08 350 to lexus to have an issue with my A/C checked out and my passenger side headlight realigned. i noticed that when i have the footwell mode selected i still feel air being blown through the upper vents. Today i got a call that the headlight is now repositioned to spec and that there is nothing they can do about the issue w/ the A/C this is because a "slight" air leak through the upper vents is considered normal by Lexus. if the leak is "extreme" they will replace the unit but it will most likely still have a slight leak.

personally i find this a little, if not completely, ridiculous. i mean my first car was a '99 ford zx2 and even that thing new where to blow the air...it blew it where i selected it to be blown. so why is my 40K+ Lexus unable to complete the same task?

It is usually the result of a vacumn effect. Their is a Lexus Personalized Setting to sut-off the footwell vent. I am thinking of having this done as to avoid those nasty cold drafts in the winter.

it comes from the center and side. not really strong but it is noticable and i was told by a service advisor who i am real tight with that there is nothing he can do b/c lexus says it is normal. most of their cars experience it. it is just crazy to me that a luxury car would have this happen. my first lexus (is300) and my last car (2002 audi S6) didnt have this issue and neither did my first car a '99 ford zx2

I am gonna drive my car tonight. Let me get back too you on the center console. I know mine does it only on the side vents. My Accord did that too.

Yes, my IS300 did not do this either and my 2gen does. It is very annoying to feel those drafts kind like a poltergeist is attempting to perform some ritualistic lapdance. Should be the personalized setting though. As I stated above, having the footwell on open allows for the vacumn draft. Some CL Members have got it turned off. Memebers in warmer weather probably don't notice it much even if the AC is on.

i am in warm weather but sometimes i like having the footwell only on b/c it allows the car to be cooled inside without me having cold air blown on my hands or face, drying them out.

i wish lexus would own up to the fact that a luxury car should not have this issue and FIX it

I actually took my car in when I realized this was happening to me. They said it was normal. I just close my vents off now. Brian231 had a good point about the LPS for that. I never even noticed that in the lps.
