I only seriously considered the G35x. I wanted AWD. I didn't look at the A4 because I would have had to get the 2.0T, and I didn't want a 4cyl engine. The BMW was going to be significantly more if it was comparably equiped, so I didn't bother with that either.

Based on styling and quality, I went with the 250

Thanks for all your responses so far. I am currently coming from an Audi A4 and I really didn't want to go with a newer model. The Audi has been amazing though. 125K miles and no really major problems besides just your normal maintenance.

G35 Sedan / Too much low grade materials, kinda ugly.

G37 Coupe / Just couldn't do a coupe, sexy as hell though.

Audi A3 Speedline / Test drove it, rode like a brick, a bit TOO small.

Audi A4 / Nice, but kinda' gay, really.

Audi A5 / Would have bought it if they were available, only S5 was avail.

Ended up with the IS350, Don't regret it one bit.

I was looking into G35 coupe, SC430, 3rd gen GS300, and (oddly enough) Scion tC.

As much as I wanted a coupe, none really had a good balance of sport, luxury, and price. For sedans, I was still cold to the newly redesigned GS, and the power upgrade of the IS350 sounded much more appealling...

That is amazing...if you've had such a good experience, why not stick with Audi? Just curious.

i like all three

i like the IS350, hence why i got one, but i think it's a little small especially when your driving people around. i'm 5'8-5'9 and most of my friends are around that height as well.. and i'd tell you...... getting in and out and positioning and repositioning my seat... can get annoying.

i like the gs350 because of size and how much room it has inside and for 45 it is a good price if it's loaded.

i like the 335 too but the only thing is they're 50g's fully loaded... i think it's a bit expensive but they look great. i'm starting to like bimmers more and more especially the newer models... they looks so nice and aggressive

if i could do it all over again... i would get a "used" 07 335.

but the cars i was looking at before buying the IS were 335, 04 Lexus LS, 04 g35

BMW 335i, Acura RL/TL, G37, Honda Accord (yikes, I know!)

In the end, though, the IS nipped out the 08 Caddy CTS. No regrets.

If you want to "connect" more to the car, get 335i

If you want luxury, get the IS
+1 (and TL, A4, ES350)... perfectly said. If you can "drive," you're gonna have fun in the worst of these suggestions. Experienced drivers make average cars good cars and good cars great cars. Personally I connect better with my IS than my 330i, but I like my IS better and it's much more luxurious. And I love the way it looks over anything else on the road!

For me, it's my favorite car and most enjoyable car to drive I've ever owned. Other than maybe wanting some extra HP once in a while (in any car-who doesn't?), I have no complaints!!!

can you wait? if so, wait for the A5, test drive it.... TT would be nice too.

I was going to suggest MB C-class with AMG package, but i see that you are looking more at the driving experience side.... oh well...

I did look at the 3-series when i was shopping for my IS, the new E90/92 interior is so boring, no surprise at all

Well, for many of us, it isn't sport vs luxury argument, it is purely a reliability issue. My BMW was a train wreck after a mere 18 months of ownership; it needed more servicing than a New York Governor.

Moving to Lexus was a purely reliability decision. Fortunately, luxury came with the package as well. All things considered, it was a good decision, and one that I would make again in a heartbeat. Until a reliable, truly sporty and luxurious car comes along wearing an ///M, /S or /RS badge, I'm happy with my IS.....but 'it ain't perfect', as they say.

(I left out the F badge because, having driven it, it just isn't $20k better than mine......sorry. Maybe the 3IS-F will be better)

C Class here..but with 40K I can only get C300 instead of top of the line C350.. but with Lexus I can get IS350 with nav and other nice options. C300 had markups and dealers not willing to knock off much from MSRP. Options are expensive (+1000k for auto, not good!!)

So, enough said, IS350 is my choice.
