Hey guys!
Recently I've lowered my car and put some 15mm spacers in the front. I'm rubbing quite a bit in the front and would like to know how to stop the rubbing.



The circled part is where I'm rubbing the most on the driver side. Would cutting out that area stop the rubbing? What would I do about the metal piece behind the fender liner?

You can try to heat up the fender lining without cutting it and if you still rub. Rub til you rub no more. You should see mine lol, its not that bad.

Haha that's one way to deal with it, but what about the metal behind the fender liner? Wouldn't I rub on that once I rub through the liner?

I dont think your low enough to rub that metal. You can get a size smaller width tire, but that's not practical. If your worried about the metal just remove/ peel back the liners and take a demel or disc grinder and shave some off and then heat. Since your up there, I would do the bumper tab modification also if your gonna go lower or get different wheels.

The part you are rubbing on is where the bumper bolts to the fender. You will need to remove the bolt and push that metal up or use a Dremel to cut it off. After you get that out of the way you will need to move that bolt forward to secure the bumper to the fender again. Hope this makes sense

Shave the bumper tab a bit and heat up the liner is all you have to do. Good luck then !!

You would have to do what is known as "bumper tab relocation." You can do a search and there are a few guides online with pictures showing you how to relocate the bumper tab.

Are you guys sure this is the bumper tab that connects to the fender?

I have the SAME problem with my liner and I thought this long metal bracket was underneath the headlight.

OP, mine is also the same and has chewed up some of the sidewall of my tire




And also my fender liner





a Pic of the metal bracket that tears the fender liner and chip my tire, is this the bumper fender connector? Sorry for the dark pic, not sure why it was really bright on my cell phone...

@Deegee, the bumper/fender tab it the area around the bolt that is above the red square box you posted in your last pic. (It came out bright because you were pointing the camera in the direction of the sun in the background). Your issue is the metal underneath the fender liner. I cut/shaved mine down to stop the chunks from cutting up my tires on their edges. Hope that helps and to understand.

What tire size you are running? From the picture your car isn't that low and tire is very thick, you might need to go thinner tire and stretch.

Thank you all for the replies! I took it to my friends after searching bumper tab modification, we cut the metal piece, relocated it and hammered it a bit till there was more room. So far I haven't rubbed in the front so it worked.

I ended up cutting the metal lip that is piercing through the liner





This is before making any cuts to the curved lip..





I ended up hammering up the remaining jagged edges under the plastic bracket but I didn't bother taking any pics of that so if my tire does manage to hit this area it won't cut anything. I've yet to do the bumper bolt relocation... maybe another time but I dont think my cars that low yet..

Didn't really have to shave it. All I did on mine was take a vise grip an bent it all up. Doesn't need that much to stop the rubbing.
