Default my car makes a sound when its idleing

so... ive had my car for a week now... and yesterday i parked my car infront of my house and got out to get something and honestly my car sounded like a VW TDI from 7 years ago... does everybody's car sound like that.. or is it only me??? cuaz that kinda sounds embarressing.. my dad used to have a viper which sounded like a lawn moar... but that looked cool on his car but mine sounds so wiered... anybody is experiencing the same sound???

yup, i was also concerned about that noise when i first got the car. i thought it was only my car as well but I read the fourms and it was already mentioned. love this fourms you learn so much. But yea im with you, it is "embarressing" but i can deal with it, im used to it.

Our cars have direct injection (similar to diesels)... fuel injectors directly in the combustion chamber that can operate at above 1000psi... Thats your ticking.

thanx for the fast responses... u know im kinda gettin used to it.. its a bit embaressing when ur standing beside another car and the guy has the window open and bring his head out, look at the car and says... umm bro... nice car but i think there is something wrong with ur engine... lol...
so one last question?? the noise will never go away... right??

I don't think so, but you get used to it. I forgot about it until we bought another new IS and I remembered the concern that I had when we bought the first IS. Enjoy your new car!

I wish I read it in the forum before "complaining to my service dept first... Now I check "here" first. Was told the same thing....injectors... The great thing about this forum is it can save you money (dealer service complain)....but It can cost you money..MOd MOd MOd...Cheers!!!!!

You know what's embarrassing? You spelling the word wrong..nothing embarrassing about a ticking motor..at least you know it works.

Yea. I also was wondering the same thing before. Searched the forums also and found out that was normal. I figured if you just drive, your engine will just take over the noise. I love the engine sound when you hit the gas and go.
