Tires For Life
Hi guys,
Just wanted to say hi! Just picked up a used 06 IS350. And the dealership wanted to sell me their tires-4-life program at $995. The car came with 18 inch tires. My driving style is pretty mild. So I'm wondering if this program is worth it at all. What do you guys think?
Thanks

Be careful with those "tires for life" deals.
One group of dealers here (different manufacturers all owned by the same person) offers it for FREE, but the stipulation is that you have to get ANY AND ALL scheduled maintenance performed there.
Also, you need to find out how they determine when a tire needs to be replaced (ie- when 2/32nds remain, less or more ???) By the time the dealer states they need replacing, you may not feel comfortable driving on tires that worn.
Also, ask about road hazard.

Thanks for trying to help me out guys. Basically they tell me that the coverage does not include any punctures that results from any accidents. Only wear and tear. And yes, all servicing must be done at their dealership.
Right now, I have a used car. But the treads still look pretty good. So I'm not sure how long I would go before I need to get a new set of tires.

Haha, yea, I'm in the bay area. A friend of mine told me that he had to change the tires of his EVO and Z4 a couple of times due to potholes and nails!

yep...and the dealership will not cover road hazard...try to go to America's Tire or Discount Tire centers around your location to get their Road Hazard Warranty...some allows you to buy their warranty even if you don't purchase tires from them and especially if urs is stock...i think its like $22 each tires...

I have a "TIRE REPLACEMENT" plan. It's pretty good to have. We've had it on all of my cars for the past 4 cars and never had to pay for a tire replacement. Tire plan cost about $550-700 depending on each car and we replaced around 8 tires atleast all 20''+. But it's up to you, i'd get it.

Read the fine print. All scheduled maintenance done at that dealership only to get that deal. If you happen to go to a different dealership for scheduled maintenance, you void the contract. To top it off dealership scheduled maintenance is very expensive.

im guessing you have dunlops on urs now, but when they replace it they'll probably give you the turanza's (which are stock for the 18"s right now) and i personally dont like that tire.

what you should do is sell ur tires for 400 dollars + club lexus members old wheels and get some new ones.... lol basically take our old tires in and get new ones.. get your money worth...
