Hello, i was wondering what do i need to swap from a non navi console to navi? the reason why i ask is because i found a navi unit for 600bux , but i am not aware what other parts i need with it, so can anyone chime in?
I told you to just steal mine and total my car while your at it. so then I wont have to detail my car.
Just kidding.
Why dont you ask Pnice? Hes cool, I got my exhaust from him.
One item you forgot to mention was backup camera. There's no way to mount it like OEM unless you get a new trunk and paint it, which will add $800 to the budget.

It is possible to drill a hole on old one.
BTW, with backup camera you need to buy the park assist computer.

Not sure. It's not simply a hole, it's big rectangular cutout. it might be possible to mount it on license plate but you won't get that oem look.
Backup camera comes with Nav, not PA. they are separate options.
Backup camera connects to monitor through the park assist computer (it draws the parking lines on the screen according to the steering wheel position).

That doesn't make any sense, given you can have a car without park assist at all that still has nav (and a backup camera)
Yes, you can have nav with a backup camera and no park assist. The body panel is like $800, but might be able to remove the stock panel and install the camera, not sure haven't tried.
Is this going to cover getting a ML DVD Player to work with a non-ML system too?
that swap is pretty simple just find a ML DVD unit, and you'll need one connector that runs from the DVD unit to the nav unit. The only thing I am unsure of is if the non ML units have the blue connector that is circled in the pic. The connector could be custom made. In addition to doing this you will lose your AUX port which is reconnected by another connector on the ML unit.
the main question is...will the ML dvd changer's audio/power cable plug and play? the ML uses a different amp and has 14 speakers...
so is it possible to swap a ML dvd changer into a non-ML navi by replacing the changer only...or will it require getting the amp, speakers, and possibly different wire harnesses?
no it will not require getting the amp, i did the retrofit without swapping my amp and my DVD works perfectly, sound and everything. the only thing you need is that cable, the white plug at the bottom of the unit is for the digital audio to the amp, which will not be used in the swap, the blue plug on the bottom far left will be used for the AUX port.
