if you think like that then why race? you already think you got the better car so no point of wasting your time and gas. If you race then you should give respect to where its due.

Again...they are two COMPLETELY different cars that are not even competition for each other. It's very unlikely that an IS buyer is going to look at the mustang, and vice versa.

^I guess it's all relative. Since I'm a mustang fan, the S197 was brilliant compared to the previous gen, which is the reason I sold my 2000 for the 05.

Is it better made than any decent import (accord, camry, lexus)...probably not. Although, to me at least, it's certainly not bad
Is it better than other domestic (chevy, other fords, etc)...most definitely.

Is it faster than the IS350.....I'm honestly not sure. Like I said, I think the mustang is faster off the line (and yes, I'm a pretty good manual driver). But, the Lexus has electronics that make it faster from a highway roll.

The rocket up your butt feeling that the IS gives you from a highway roll is the same feeling that the GT gives you off the line.

And, although we're comparing stock to stock, the mustang has A LOT more aftermarket mods available. So, it's much more capable, and the mods are that much money. You can turn a fast car into an even faster car for relatively cheap. Unfortunately, that's where the IS falls off.

I explicitly said in my post the 14.0 1/4 time on the IS was slower than many folks here had run, but it was what several magazine sources reported.

ONE mag source reported 13.5 and 4.9 for 1/4 and 0-60, but that's considerably faster than even Lexus claims for the car.

Different drivers, weather, track conditions, etc will produce different bench times.

I'd also agree that the Mustang has a -lot- more aftermarket mod support available to make additional power, and larger displacement will win out in the mod dept. too if you're comparing NA cars... but that's outside the topic of stock vs. stock.

The mustang was tested with a manual transmission.

I think those R&T numbers are a little off. the 0-60 and 1/4 mile time that they post for the IS seems to be an EXTREME low, whereby the numbers they post for the GT (especially the 0-60) seem to be a "typical driver" number.

EDIT: Motor Trend reports 05 Mustang GT 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.5 at 103.6. They also report 06 IS350 at 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, 1/4 in 14.0 at 99.8. In another test, they report an is350 at 5.2/ 13.8/ 102.9 respectively

But, none of the numbers really matter, as it's only bench racing. The fact of the matter remains that the Lexus electronics are extremely nice in the car. Ford's on the other hand, are not. For example, there is a known drive by wire lag with the GT's (one reason that many people get programmers for their car), and the downshifts on the automatic are slow.

People buy Mustang GT's because they're fast.

People buy IS350's because they are fast, luxurious and reliable.

IS350 beats Mustang GT in live race and in various magazines.

What does Mustang owner have left? EXCUSES.

Which city of Pakistan did you visit?

You know all major cities of Pakistan have huge underground racing operations after 10 PM? I can tell you the locations and heat these guys are packing if you want to check it out next time. These are some seriously sick bastards though!
