Default Wierd possible brake noise started today...

I'm taking it in tomorrow, but I just want to see if anyone has experienced this.

It seems like all of a sudden, my brakes are screeching now when I brake. In addition, when If I brake in traffic and continue to drive the screech seems to stay after I've lifted off the brake. Today, when driving I noticed when I was driving straight, if I turned slightly to the left, that noise would appear. If I turned the wheel slightly right, it went away. Very odd.

The sound itself is somewhere between low brake pad indicator and a bad wheel bearing.

I just hope it's nothing big or something I have to pay for. I also hope they say "Matt, we know your car hasn't lived up to your expectations, and we'd love for you to turn your car in early - penalty free".

How many miles do you have on your brake pads?

sounds like brake pads are done, but the fact that it still makes noise when you're moving is a bit odd. Have you tried cleaning the whole brake/wheel area?

i've got about 16xxx on mine and when my breaks are cold, they softly sing. but after there all warmed up they go away.
sounds more like wheel bearings to me.

My friend had the same exact issue after getting her brakes done from the TSIB brake dust. She hasn't taken it in yet. weird.

is the sound really loud? i had a similar problem with my old camry, sounded exactly like how you are describing it. it was coming from the front driver side brakes. when my dad and I took off the front left tire, some burnt chunks of brake pad fell out. somehow, the brakes got too hot and destroyed the pads. not sure if it gouged the rotor tho, since we got rid of the car right after that.

take it in.....

ask for the TSIB if you havent done it....

if the sound is from the wheel bearing, you are covered anyway

MF! I went to the dealer today, they said my front brake pads are down to the warning mark. I don't understand why the noise is there when I don't brake, but whatever. They said my rears are at 60%.

Can someone explain this? They want to charge me $450 ish for pads, sensors, and machining the rotors. This is crazy. I never machined rotors to be honest, hell, it'd be cheaper to get new rotors.

What are these "sensors" they are talking about?

They say they can't just replace the pads - that I have to do the whole package. Is that true?

The guy sounded mad and I eventually said I'll just pick the car up and take it somewhere else to get the pads replaced (I'd do it myself but I live it stupid *** LA with no garage).

Sometimes, at first they will squeal when you brake and then after some time they will squeal all the time.

Don't cut the rotors unless they need it! They should be OK.

after my friend got her TSB Brake done they started making noise like yours is doing. So she took it back to the dealer 2 weeks after the TSB work and they had to resurface her rotors and gave her new pads all for free.

In a perfect world they would say that....

Jeeze...it's never ending on your car isn't it?
