I know this thread is a bit old, however I still hope someone can help. When putting the sensors in the canister, do they need to have the valves in them? I did the spare tire trick, but I put the 4 sensors inside without putting the valves back in the stems when I took them out to empty the tire of air. So I still have the " Check System" light and yellow tire light on.

Best bet to put the valves. I tried this trick many moons ago and I could not get the canister to seal 100%. I ended up disabling my TPMS, this was for my SC though.

I just did this today. yes it worked. I replaced my stock rim with aftermarket. i put it with the reserve tire at the back hiding there. I will check if the psi will go down in a few months...
I put 2 towels in between the 4 sensors inside the canister.
