you will have to go to the dealer. maybe ask a tech or someone you know to see if they will do it for you. make sure you have all fobs with you and its all of a 15 min process for them to link up to the car.

a computers connected to your vehicle and a programs used to make your vehicle recognize the new key. you need a master key (or, for 2is, a smart key) already programmed to the vehicle in order for this to work. otherwise, theres a complicated process of ordering a new ecu and such. it should usually take roughly 5-10 minutes to get it programmed, doesnt take long. just pull it into your service center and tell em you need the new key programmed.

there is no need to order a new ecu if you lose all your keys. i have reflashed many cars with smart access when the owner has lost all keys. The only time you have to order the ecu is when the technician screws up the steps in the process. When this happens there are 2 ecus that have to be replaced. One in the trunk and one behind the dash.

well, no one ever notified me of that part, lxgs4!

from what ive worked with when a guest loses all their keys there is a service fee to reset their ecu, but in some situations new ecus need to be reordered even before the tech begins his work.

ps. where in the trunks the 'second' ecu? o.O

i believe the second ecu is in the right rear of the trunk area. maybe different for some cars but on the gs, the right rear is where its at.
