I'm going to make one more point, and then I'll stop with my opinions:
What about the Bridgestone RE050 tires that are on the car, or any other ultra-high performance tire???? They cost a *relatively* substantial amount of money compared to other tires and they don't have very good longevity (low mileage ratings), yet they do a very good job with grip.
The mats are really no different. As discussed previously, they cost a relatively substantial amount of money compared to other mats and they don't have good longevity (in this case they wear out quickly), but THEY TOO HAVE GOOD "PERFORMANCE". How so, you're thinking....
1) they look very nice compared to generic mats (IMO)
2) they have very thick channels, which means that it will hold more stuff without leak-over
3) they have a perfect fit.
So, I just consider them a wear and tear item like the tires. Also, I consider the amount of wear-and-tear saved on the regular carpet or the carpeted mats.

I would never buy these mats again. We can analyze the cause all we want but fact is these mats are poorly designed when it comes to durability. I have Costco rubber mats in a 98 Taco that have over 100K miles of use and are still OK, so this is NOT a question of how they are used. If the stealer is willing to replace them at no cost I will continue to use them. I will not invest another dime into JUNK!

Just like others have said, wear on carpet depends on the type of person driving/sitting in the car. For example, me (when i had a civic) and my brother. We both had OEM carpet floor mats, but he managed to put a hole in his on the clutch side, on the other hand, i didnt do anything like that to mine.
I'm guessing a majority people drive with their heel rested on the floor mat, which in fact over time does put wear on the mat. I know I do, but I don't dig my heel into it or drag my heel from one pedal to the next.

The Lexus mats do say Lexus with the logo on the front mats. I just got some today and they are a softer rubber than the hexomats that I had in my prius. I can see why they may wear out after awhile.

ooh, i have those! they're sweet, thick, and rubbery ;x ahhaha. i like to drive barefoot and they feel good on the feet. they pretty much catch all the dirty stuff from shoes and all that too, so vacuuming is simple. woot. totally worth $140 hhaha

oh lame, i got jipped big time then. i couldn't find those anywhere in store, so i just bought it at the dealership so i could see and feel it in person. either way, i still love my floormats. it's perfect in rainy weather :]

Normal wear but......
let me bring this back....my floor mats are ~10 months old now....
they have some signs of wear (that's understandable)....but
for some reason I found a small hole in the middle of the floor mat ?
called the dealer....thank god they are gonna replace them as it IS still under warranty.....

The Mats offered in Canada are much better. 100% Rubber, and come with a 5 yr warranty I believe..
